Current Flow State x Snow Peak

We're kicking off the first of our Community Connect events with Snow Peak this Tuesday evening in Portland!

Snow Peak Portland x Current Flow State "Community Connect" event flyer — angler fishing a mountain lake, Aug 18, 4-6:30pm, 404 NW 23rd Ave, Portland, OR

CFS massive:

Quick and dirty one this week, as I'm taking a momentary breather to get some fun news to you from the patio of the illustrious Best Western Ponderosa Lodge in Sisters, Oregon, between a long and dusty weekend of family camp on the Nestucca River, a session with my casting mentor Mary Ann Dozer, and some time waist-deep in the glorious Metolius.

Big news: We're teaming up with Snow Peak

I'm really, really excited to announce we're teaming up with Snow Peak, one of my favorite outdoor gear brands, to bring to life a series of Community Connect events at its Portland retail space.

We'll be commandeering the patio of Tabiki, Snow Peak's PDX izakaya from 4-6:30 pm tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 18th, for the first of several evenings meant to bring together anglers for some conversation and camaraderie. The event is free and open to all. I'd love to see you there if you can join.

We'll be touching on some fly fishing fundamentals—where it came from, what's so great about it, why we do it, how to do it—in our first installment. But across upcoming meetings we'll have a lot of latitude to explore all sorts of different aspects of this glorious sport (and maybe even make some new fishing buddies).

As our pals at Snow Peak write: "Whether you've spent years on the river or have simply been curious about where to begin, the evening is intended to create an approachable space to learn, ask questions, and connect with others through a shared interest in fly fishing."

Snow Peak has gotten into fly fishing in a big way in the last several years, including with its acquisition of New Zealand's Epic Fly Rods in autumn 2024, and its development of fly fishing specific gear and apparel. I can't wait to see where this goes.

Hope to see you Tuesday evening!
